Wednesday, April 10 :Canned Food Drive (helping organize getting canned food to donate to food banks in Charlotte)

Thursday, April 11: Poverty Simulation (demonstrates why we support the cause)

Habitat for Humanity General Body Meeting 9/13/12
 Icebreaker

·Membership
o   Membership applications are on our website www.uncchabitat.org under the get involved tab
o   $10 dues cover: official UNC Charlotte Habitat Campus Chapter t-shirt, gives you priority sign-ups for off campus volunteers events and Collegiate Challenge spring break trip
o   There is a point system for members
§  Meeting attendance = 1 point
§  Restore and metal recycling = 5 points
§  Build = 10 points
§  On campus volunteer events = 2 points
o   The member with the most points at the end of the month will receive the volunteer of the month award!

·        Collegiate Challenge
o   March 4th-8th, 2013
o   We will be going to two locations this year. Members will get first priority for registration.
o   The interest meeting for Collegiate Challenge will be held in October

·        World Habitat Day – October 1st, 2013
o   In December 1985, the United Nations General Assembly declared the first Monday in October to be World Habitat Day
o   This year’s theme, Many Homes, One Community, will call attention to the pivotal role of housing in a neighborhood’s progression

·        Volunteer Dates
o   Restore – September 29th, time TBA
o   Building a Playground – October 13th, 8:30am - 2:30pm
o   Construction Project – October 27th, 8am – 4pm
o   Be sure to wear close toe shoes to all these events. The thicker the better for your protection

·        Fundraising Events
o   We are going to be doing monthly donation tables around campus.
§  From the first table on Wednesday the 12th we were able to raise $20 dollars
§  Next date is October 10th
§  We will also have a monthly bake sale!
o   Halloween Trick-or-Treat for Change on October 31st
§  We will go door to door in appropriate costumes and ask for donations (We will have some official habitat signage to show that we are legitimate). We will go earlier in the night so your Halloween plans won’t be bothered!
o   Hire-a-Habitater on November 10th
§  We want to go do work for homeowners to raise money. The homeowners will provide the tools for whatever job around their house or yard that needs to be done.
o   Restaurant Night on November 14th  at Hickory Tavern
§  We will ask patrons as they are leaving to give us their receipt so that 10% of their final bill can be donated to us
